Solo developer and founder of CoScript. I built this because every transcription tool I tried either sent my audio to someone else's servers, charged me for “AI credits” I'd already paid for, or crashed halfway through a 2-hour recording session.
The Problem I Solved
In 2026, every major transcription app had the same deal-breaker: your voice goes to the cloud. Otter.ai sends a bot to your meetings. Fireflies charges you for AI credits that run out mid-month. Descript crashes and takes your 2-hour edit with it.
I wanted something simple: press a key, talk, and see my words appear — in any app, on my machine, without my audio going anywhere. Nothing like that existed, so I built it.
CoScript processes every word using an on-device AI engine directly on your desktop. For basic transcription, your audio never touches a server. Cloud features like translation and tone modes use Google's API with encrypted connections — you choose when to use them. It's a 98MB portable .exe that replaces tools 25x its size.
